Near Yet Distant

anniversaries are
reminders of sadness
it’s been twelve years –
loss

time
marches on
and just when
breath returns so do
tears

contemplation
edging reality
at the creek
banking on good memory
flow

I
stand alone
let water fall
from my blinking eyes…
see?
