(Scara Brae in the Bay of Skaill on mainland Orkney is the best preserved neolithic village in Northern Europe, It was revealed by a violent storm in 1850. Some 5000 years old, it was inhabited before the Egyptian pyramids were built.)

    • Kathy it is a remarkable place, once some way inland but now right on the coast and sadly at risk of further land erosion. Like you I love the sound of the name!
